Here's what people are saying about their experience with our Running Academy
-
I was challenged by a co-worker to participate in the Malibu triathlon, something I never imagined I would do. To begin my training, I joined the Snail's Pace RA101 class in Brea. Before joining this class, I struggled running 1 mile! I'm happy to say that I completed a 5K at the end of the 12 week session and moved on to the 102 class. It was thanks to the support of my coaches, new friends and the structure Snail's Pace provided that I was able to finish 2 triathlons and a 10K, all in 6 months!

Before I joined the Running Academy I would envy the people I saw running down the street. I would envision the amount of determination and strength it must take to be a "RUNNER." I could barely run around the block. I would say to myself, "Maybe one day I could be a runner" and quickly that thought would switch too "Yeah right, I don't have the strength." I joined the running academy with a dream, but never envisioned it would come true after only a few short months. I completed my first Half Marathon in September and because of the Running Academy I now can say that I am one of those "RUNNERS" I once passed by.

After completing the Injured Runners Inaugural Session I feel stronger with less vulnerability to injury
in my training.
The injury-recovery sessions are a guided and safe training format that allows one's
progress to be visualized, realized and improved upon.
The Wounded Runner injury recovery sessions are valuable to all who must overcome an injury that
affects their training or competition performance.
The trainers work constantly to inform each participant of the work and assignments for each level of
recovery.
The personal attention to each participant is noted in each training session.
The trainers and Doctors from FORMA Group convey the key knowledge to mitigating one's
vulnerability to injury and the mechanism to overcome and heal the body while training.
The idea is to train the body to a step-by-step level increase to progress to full performance within
the athlete's range of recovery.
Muscle groups and use, archaic injury and muscle memory, physiology and mechanics are covered
by the trainers to each participant, and nudging limitations to a healthier level is the theme of each
workout.
Training to overcome an injury is enhanced and facilitated by the trainers, professional therapists,
and especially, by the camaraderie of all of the group participants as they have the common goal of
recovery.
I am entirely grateful for the attention to my needs and personal injury limitations, and my recovery
has been a re-education in healthy training habits as well as in injury recovery.
The Wounded Runner Sessions are a valuable asset to any runner's development.
The Wounded Runner Sessions will be consistently requested at A Snail's Pace Running Academy

- Subject: I made my goal!!!
Hi Sharyn & Michelle
All of the hill work and fartlek's paid off!! I achieved my speed goal much sooner than I expected. I ran the 5K yesterday in 30:46 (9:55 pace). My goal was a 10 min mile. This is the first time I've been able to run in decades without severe pain in my knees or hip. Michelle, when I first started in Jan, I had a hard time running 3-1's. Running at 6MPH for more than a few seconds made me out-of-breath and something would start hurting. Sharyn, remember I was complaining about the 6-1's being too hard =) The only breaks I took yesterday were for a few seconds at the water breaks to let my heart rate come down (which also happens much more quickly now).
MY KNEES ARE FINE TODAY!!!! And we even went to Peter's Canyon on the way home from the race yesterday and did another 2 miles. Thank you guys SOOOOOO much!!!!

- I haven't been an active runner in decades. But after promising myself that I would get back out there, I finally joined A Snail's Pace Running Academy in the Running 101 course. Though I was a little apprehensive at first, the Running Academy instructors were welcoming and truly knowledgeable about a wide variety of aspects of running. The group approach also provided lots of different people at a variety of levels to run with. The instructors answered our questions, no matter how small or trivial. Their interval approach to running, which emphasized increasing your fitness level as well as your time running, was new and unique to me. It provided an easy way to get back in shape. After only three months, I have gone from being "fresh from the couch" to running 5k's and working toward my first 10k in decades. I even see Half Marathons in my future. Their extra emphasis in running safely and not getting injured is an added bonus. Without A Snail's Pace Running Academy, I suspect I would still be on the couch!
